a flower for your friday

~ a flower for your friday ~

I was surprised to find this yellow wood poppy in my yard.
I didn’t plant it, and I never had it before.
I love when flowers do that!
The open flowers and even the buds are substantial enough
to give the area an eye-catching pop of color.

The primrose,
almost crowded out by the others,
by the hostas and ferns and hydrangea.
I planted these flowers probably 20 years ago,
and they return every spring, good years and bad years.
They’re not showy or demanding,
but they’re fresh and they’re earthy,
they’re compact, textured, tactile.
Come springtime, they hold their own.

Thanks for visiting clover & ivy.

Let’s see.
Yesterday was Wednesday, today is Thursday,
so tomorrow must be Friday.
The only thing that distinguishes one day from the next
is if it’s cloudy, or rainy, or sunny.
Today it’s sunny,
and I’m fairly sure tomorrow is Friday.
How long have we been doing this?

Stay safe, stay strong, and stay well,
and thanks for visiting clover & ivy.
