September 1st – scarcely a blink since the beginning of summer 2022, when the robins worked feverishly to build a nest in the shrub by the garden hose. Although hummingbirds still seem in a mad rush, the main business of summer quiets considerably as we head into these cooler, shorter, late days of the season. Happy Labor Day Weekend.
It’s Thursday afternoon already? Even in a pandemic, the weeks fly by. I hope many of you will have a long weekend. The flowers are salvia, which seem to be their happiest in the waning days of summer. Stay healthy and enjoy your weekend.
Only one plant’s got purple flowers left. The rest have gone to seed. The butterflies and birds still like them, I think, so that’s an excuse to let them be.
