
The fox is the coolest of the cool. No eye contact, won’t run off, doesn’t stop and stare. He keeps going as if you’re not even there, nice and steady. Walks right up the path or the sidewalk like it was made for him. He spotted me before I saw him, I’m sure. Crossed to the brush on the other side, real cool, looked my way (against the rules), and crossed back again. Me? I called it an evening, turned around and headed back for my car, nice and steady.

It was kind of a cute encounter, but I wasn’t going to push my luck. When I first saw him (her?), he was looking at me from around the bend.

Yes, that was very lucky. I rushed the pictures, and the lighting was bad. They’re not great quality, but I was pleased when I saw somehow I got the reflection in the puddle.
